Imagine landing at your destination only to discover that your luggage containing your essential MacBook and two Apple Watches has vanished. You report the missing luggage to Spirit Airlines and provide them with your mailing address so they can send the lost luggage once it’s found.
Oh, it gets better.
The next morning, your Apple Watch pings the location of the other Watch you had at home from a strange location about fifteen minutes from the airport. You assume that the airline company made a mistake and decided to visit the location where your luggage pinged.
You pull up only to find out more. And whose house was it? It’s the home of Junior Bazile, an airport employee who worked the day your luggage went missing. You notice many other pieces of luggage, so you decide to videotape it and call the police.
Crazy, right?
That story happened to Florida flyer Paola Garcia last month at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport’s Terminal 4. The story is ironic after being forced to check her bag at boarding.
Police arrested and charged Bazile with grand theft. Surveillance footage showed Bazile removing the electronics from Garcia’s bag and placing them in clear plastic bags. If convicted, Bazile faces a potential sentence of five to 30 years in prison and fines ranging from $5,000 to $10,000.
By the time authorities reached the house, Garcia’s possessions were nowhere to be found.
Spirit Airlines prioritized Ms. Garcia’s well-being by issuing a full reimbursement check for her missing luggage last month. Furthermore, the company informed her of their commitment to the safety and security of all passengers’ belongings and is cooperating fully with investigating this incident.
This story is another reason to get Airtags
While AirTags are popular for tracking lost luggage, Apple Watches aren’t as commonly used. That is what makes this story incredibly unique. In addition to many great travel products, Apple Airtags are great for locating lost luggage—no pun intended. So consider getting Airtags and Airtag accessories ahead of your next trip today. Safe travels!
