With summer ahead of us, it’s time to pack up your suitcases and go on vacation. Do you wanna soak up in the sun and get some nice tan? Or do you want to escape the heat and go somewhere cooler? Thanks to Earth’s mighty rotation, there are places in the world suitable for any climate preference. Here’s a rundown of the 10 best places to visit in June.
1. Thailand

Deep in the heart of Southeast Asia is the always exciting Thailand. From its incredibly affordable shopping hubs to its rich nightlife, Thailand is the place to be for a good time. Bangkok, a trendy metropolitan full of shopping malls, clubs, and eateries, is definitely the first must-see destination for all visitors. From there, you can travel north to Chiang Mai to immerse yourself in the Siamese culture or head south for the beaches in Pattaya, Phuket, and Koh Samui.
When you’re there, be sure to taste the local dishes like Pad Thai and Tom Yum Goong. Thai food is typically spicy and zesty, just in case that’s not your vibe. The locals are very welcoming to tourists, and Thai is one of the most accepting places for queer folks, so make sure to practice the same. That said, you’ll love it there.
2. South Korea

Coming up at number two on our list is South Korea. Thanks to K-Pop and K-Drama, South Korea is one of the trendiest places on Earth and Seoul as the capital is its headquarters. Bask in the latest fashion on the street of Hannam-dong, hunt for skincare and makeup in Myeongdong, or revel in the international nightlife scene of Itaewon.
Foodies will get a kick out of Korea’s culinary scene. From the abundance of Korean BBQ joints to their penchant for all kinds of seafood creations, eating is Korea’s favorite pastime, especially when drinks are involved. If you enjoy drinks, you’re in the right place – Koreans down their food with soju as they talk for hours on end. Finish the day with a trip to the Noraebang, the local karaoke spot, to belt out some K-pop tunes.
3. Positano

Nestled on the coast of Amalfi, Positano is an idyllic village where mountains and seas meet. Here, you can enjoy sunbathing and frolicking in the Mediterranean water all day with a stunning view as the backdrop. Home to numerous upscale resorts and villas, you won’t lack accommodations offering world-class hospitality during your stay. And when you’re not spending time at the beach, head to the town square to shop for gorgeous handmade gifts or savor a wide selection of delectable Italian dishes from family-run trattoria.
4. Australia

Looking for a place to escape the heat? We recommend heading “down under” to Australia, where it’s wintertime while the rest of the world is sweltering. Sydney and Melbourne are the premier destinations with their chic urban metropolises and hip coffee shops (the Aussies LOVE their brews!). If you love outdoor activities, the Koala La Land offers a beautiful landscape of natural wonders. Whether it’s trekking through its deserts, chilling at the winery, or enjoying its unique wildlife, there’s tons of great options. And as a longtime multicultural hub, you can pretty much find the best cuisines from all over the world in Aussie.
5. New Zealand

If you’re looking for something more low-key or a quieter holiday spot, go further east of Australia to the land of the hobbits, New Zealand. World famous for being the shooting site of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, New Zealand’s tiny size belies its endlessly jaw-dropping vista. From snow-capped mountains to crystalline lakes to rolling green hills, New Zealand’s gorgeous natural splendor will leave your mouth down on the floor. That’s how amazing it is! For a full experience, you should take a helicopter ride to observe the landscape from above or book a campervan and hit the road surrounded by majestic views.
6. Mykonos, Greece

Of course, we could not forget Greece on our list. If you love the sun and the beaches, Mykonos’ stunning coastline comes with authentic Greek culture, jovial celebrations, and delectable gourmets. In addition to the incredible beaches, you get the Greek countryside with its one-of-a-kind white-and-blue architecture dotting the seaside landscape. This is easily one of our favorite sights to see there!
7. The French Riviera

It’s not complete to list summer destinations without mentioning world-renowned St Tropez, Cannes, and Nice. French Riviera’s beauty is legendary, and its landscape is the epitome of old-world elegance, as immortalized in multiple James Bond movies and Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief. Traversing its quaint town and coastline dotted with yachts, you can’t help but absorb its decadent allure. Perhaps, you might also catch a celebrity sighting or two at the stars-beloved destination.
8. Labuan Bajo, Indonesia

Situated eastward of Bali, itself a world-famous holiday spot, Labuan Bajo is climbing up the list as an ideal destination for holidaymakers thanks to its gorgeous cliffside view overlooking the Indian Ocean and its scenic beaches, most notably the Pink Beach – where the sand turned pink due to the unique pigment of its coral reefs. Being a newly developed tourist hotspot, prices are still relatively affordable, and this e crowd is less packed, so there’s no better time to book a trip!
9. Japan

In Japan, June is traditionally the beginning of summer. There’ll be plenty of summer-welcoming festivals called matsuri to mark the occasion. These festivals usually include religious parades followed by street markets where the locals would dress in yukata – a lighter summer kimono – to enjoy the festivities. Different cities have their own unique festivals, like Aizen Matsuri in Osaka and the famous Torikoe Matsuri in Tokyo, where large portable shrines are hoisted all over town the whole day.
And of course, aside from festivals, you can always enjoy Japan’s vibrant cultural scene, from all things anime to video games to top-notch Japanese food – it’s no secret that no matter which random place you choose to eat in Japan, it’ll be delicious anyway!
10. Iceland

Now, this place does not get talked about enough! Iceland, the land that gave us Bjork and Laufey, is always shrouded with mystery and otherworldliness. Iceland is a fantasy land where fairies and elves might live, inviting you for a picturesque journey. Its natural landscape is second to none in the world. Where else can you find a vast jet-black desert on the same island as ice caverns, geysers, and majestic fjords? And summer is the best time to visit Iceland because of the daylight and temperatures.
P.S. You might find aurora borealis if you’re lucky!
