The video starts with a man animatedly approaching the Spirit check-in counter. Then, a verbal confrontation with several employees ensued. The employees then became physically involved with the man, restraining him on the ground. The video shows further physical contact after the man was restrained.
For clarity, they were not Spirit Airlines employees
The individuals involved in the physical altercation were not directly employed by Spirit Airlines but by a contractor who manages check-in for the airline in Baltimore. Spirit Airlines has reported that the employees involved have been suspended pending an investigation, emphasizing that “violence of any kind is not tolerated.”
The cause of the incident remains under investigation as the passenger recording the video did not start filming until after the situation escalated. Spirit Airlines states they are still investigating despite the contractor employing the involved individuals.
